TrapPro for Navigator Harlequin RIPS

Navigator TrapPro is an optional in-RIP trapping engine for Xitron Navigator Harlequin RIPs. Trapping 4-color process or multiple spot color jobs by hand takes time, and TrapPro automates it inside the RIP.

What TrapPro does

• Object and vector trapping, auto-chokes and super blacks, with small object protection.
• Raster-to-raster trapping, sliding traps, mitered ends and feathered traps.
• Uses the job’s PostScript display list to find the areas that need a trap (typically a small part of the page), then traps them in raster.

For current Navigator and K2 systems, Xitron now handles trapping in the PDF instead of in the RIP. Its PDF-based module, IntelliTrap, is part of the Navigator Workflow, can run automated or let operators review and adjust traps before RIPping, and is described by Xitron as faster than in-RIP trapping. Xitron has offered existing in-RIP trapping customers a special upgrade price. Xitron currently ships Navigator RIP v14 and Workflow v9.
