The Techkon SpectroPlate is a high-resolution, handheld digital microscope for inspecting and measuring offset printing plates. It reads dot percentage, screen angle, screen ruling (lpi or lines/cm), and dot gain on conventional and chemistry-free plates, so you can verify CtP output and linearize your plate processor with confidence.
Accurate on any screen
SpectroPlate uses a CMOS color matrix sensor and image-processing algorithms to read AM, FM, and hybrid screens at low to high resolutions. Spectrally white illumination and dynamic color evaluation let it read all kinds of plate types and coated surfaces. Repeatability is +/- 0.5%, a single measurement takes about one second, and every device is factory-calibrated to the FOGRA Measuring Bar FMB, so no calibration routine is needed before you measure.
Choose your model
- SpectroPlate Start: dot percentage, screen angle, and screen frequency (l/cm and lpi) on popular plate types, film, and CMYK print.
- SpectroPlate Expert: everything in Start, plus dot gain transfer curves, geometric object analysis, an average measurement function, and onboard memory.
- SpectroPlate All-Vision: everything in Expert, plus infrared illumination for chemistry-free, process-less plates with very low visible contrast. All-Vision uses different hardware and cannot be added to a Start or Expert later.

Software and data
SpectroPlate Connect connects the device to a Windows PC over USB. Measured values and transfer curves are displayed and stored, and the data can be used directly to linearize a RIP-powered plate processor. You can also view enlarged microscopic images of the dot structure.
