The Techkon SpectroDens is a handheld spectrodensitometer that combines the accuracy of a spectrophotometer with the simplicity of a densitometer. One instrument covers solid ink density, dot gain, gray balance, and Lab color measurement, whether you are checking proofs, running quality control at the press, inspecting deliveries, or matching spot colors in the color lab.
Choose your performance level
- SpectroDens Basic: the essential density functions. Automatic density measurement, CMYK density, dot area and dot gain, gray and color balance, ink trapping, print contrast, and slur/doubling.
- SpectroDens Advanced: everything in Basic, plus spectral density for spot colors, printing curves, CIE Lab, XYZ and LCh, color difference (dE94, dE2000, dEcmc), remission spectrum, a color library, and ink-key density recommendations.
- SpectroDens Premium: everything in Advanced, plus additional color spaces (xyY, Luv, LCHuv, DIN Lab99), metamerism index, whiteness and yellowness, pass/fail tolerances, measurement averaging, ISO 12647-2 checks, and the Ugra/Fogra Media Wedge module.

- Spectral measurement: 0°/45° optics with a 400 to 700 nm spectral range and an LED light source.
- Measurement conditions: M0, M1, M2 and M3 per ISO 13655, with factory calibration.
- Precise positioning: a side-mounted aperture lets you see exactly where you are measuring. The standard aperture is 3 mm, with a 1.5 mm aperture available for small color bar patches.
- Scan color bars: integrated guide wheels let you take spot readings or scan a color bar in one pass.
- Built for the pressroom: solid aluminum unibody construction and a high-contrast graphic display.
- Software included: SpectroConnect for color libraries, data import and export, and QC reporting over USB.
Standards and workflows
SpectroDens supports ISO 12647 and G7 methodology and works with standard control wedges, including the Ugra/Fogra Media Wedge. It is a good fit for offset, flexo, digital, and wide-format print shops that need one device for both press control and color work.
