The Nix Spectro 2 spectrophotometer brings true 31-channel spectral measurement across the visible spectrum (400-700 nm) to a rugged, pocketable device. It offers more than 10x the resolution of a typical colorimeter, which narrows the gaps between channels and improves accuracy across the whole color gamut. It also works as a densitometer, so press operators can check ink density and get clear direction on how to correct it.

The Spectro 2 comes in two versions that differ in measurement aperture. Both share the same sensor, software, and compliance features, so the choice comes down to the size of the samples you measure.

Choose your aperture: 5 mm or 2 mm

Not sure which to pick? For best color results, Nix recommends the 5 mm version for any sample 16 mm or larger. Choose the 2 mm version only if you need to measure print control strips or other small targets.

    Features shared by both versions

    • True 31-channel spectral data from 400-700 nm, reported at 10 nm resolution
    • 8 LEDs: broad-spectrum white, violet, and ultraviolet
    • M0, M1, and M2 measurement modes for substrates with optical brighteners
    • Densitometer, quality control, and color library management functions
    • Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity, with haptic vibration and RGB indication
    • Scratch-resistant lens and a dust and water-resistant metal enclosure
    • Works with the free Nix Toolkit app, Nix Print Pro software, and a long list of third-party color software

    Built-in compliance features

Each Spectro 2 ships with an individual inspection certificate documenting its factory calibration, plus a ceramic reference tile so you can confirm the device is in spec at any time. Nix also offers recertification at its Canadian headquarters, and recommends it every 12 months.

Built for print, packaging, and industrial color QC

Use the Spectro 2 to measure CMYK, density, and Lab values, run Delta E pass/fail checks, and compare against brand color standards. Pantone matching is available with a paid library subscription. The same device also suits manufacturing, plastics, textiles, cosmetics, food, and paint and coatings work.
